This hotel is rather outdated, though limited attempts have been made to renovate it. Upon arrival, the clerk put us in a single bed room, when we had specifically requested two beds on our online booking, since I was traveling with my mother. Clerk had to call manager to confirm and put us in a double bedded room. No A/C anywhere in the building, so upper floors become stifling in the summer. Only the double bedded rooms have an extremely tiny (so tiny the toilet paper roll was digging into my side) private washroom. All other rooms share a public one on the floor. There is one power outlet near the door for the whole room AND the bathroom, which means the TV was on an extension cord, and the fridge, microwave and coffee maker on a power bar. A lamp between the beds was apparently for show. No chair or table in the room. Fridge leaked ice and water upon arrival. Terrible view. Scary weird screamo metal concert the night we got there, but we didn't hear it that much. $20 key deposit announced only upon arrival. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place.

We came in late on Saturday night of August long weekend. Shavonne, the woman at the front desk was so kind, helpful & accommodating. There was a band playing - very loud however we were warned before we got there & our comfort was frequently checked on. The room was cute. Shavonne makes you feel very welcome!!!!

Do not stay at this hotel, I wish I could take away stars as they don't even deserve one. Whoever works at the office is extremely rude. I saw an extra charge on my card and thought they double charged me by mistake, when I called in to sort this out the lady on the phone flat out lied to my face saying there was an ashtray in the room. The funny thing is that no one in my party smokes and for that matter even owns an ashtray. I've also read about people getting scammed out of their key deposits as well, if you don't want this headache of dealing with fraudulent charges after your stay as well as having to pay for a private bathroom at which point you're paying more money for something old and rundown, when you could've stayed at nicer place for less.

There exists few words that can truly describe this place; its a feeling that you must experience to know what its like. The hotel despite its age built 1888, retains its magic; it has been renovated inside. New hardwood floors fresh paint new bathrooms new everything. Remember this is an ancient piece of history this building having said that there is no A/C because the hotel is very old and can not handle the load and power needed to power them. They have fans but keep In mind it does tend to be cooler in summer in this region as opposed to more southern Ontario destinations. The hotel has a hostel like feel. There are Daily weekly and monthly rates. There are permanent residents that live there, good natured people that I had the great pleasure to meet. There is much love in this spot, all the staff and owners are kind down to earth persons. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for the absolutely wonderful way that I was treated when I was there. It is a feeling and a vibe not a fancy hotel but strong and vibrating community. One love

Really wish I could give less than one star. It should be noted by anyone reading this that the vast majority of reviews for this hostel (not hotel) are fake, and the proprietors of this place are paying for them to be generated and then posted to give the illusion that they're legitimate. The building is dirty, the person checking us in was drunk to the point where we could smell the liquor coming off of him and the beds were past the point of uncomfortable. The other patrons of the hostel were less than savory as well. When we got home, my boyfriend saw that the credit card we had provided to reserve the room had been charged $100 despite us paying for the room with a different card. He called the hostel to ask about it and we were told that they had found an ashtray in the room and it smelled of smoke, despite none of us being smokers. I made the booking myself and I was asked if we wanted a smoking or nonsmoking room, to which I replied nonsmoking. The woman my boyfriend spoke with informed him that the building is nonsmoking as it is old, and that their cleaner had taken a photo of the ashtray but couldn't provide it as she was 'on vacation'. I have seen on some other reviews (buried under fake ones) that these extra charges are a common practice from this hostel. They WILL scam you if you stay here.
